Fairest by Marissa Meyer (The Lunar Chronicles #3.5)

Fairest - Marissa Meyer

Hey guys, I hope you all are having a great day, and this is my review to Fairest by Marissa Meyer and this book is just a novella for The Lunar Chronicles series.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now. Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death.

This extraordinary book includes full-color art and an excerpt from Winter, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series.

My thoughts before reading this book: Why couldn’t this be Winter?

My thoughts after reading this book: OMG!! UHFUEHF WKMPFIJ302R2793YR N!

Levana’s story is very different from what I expected. I don’t think there is anything to spoil for this just because it’s a novella and if you have read the first three books in The Lunar Chronicles then you know what this book is going to have. What you don’t know is the other things that will be in this book!

I cannot . . . I cannot believe some of the things I found out about Levana. We start to learn just a little bit about how Levana shaped the Luna world to what it is like today (in like Cinder-time)—and her very devious plans. I never thought that Levana could be so . . . unemotional? Or maybe she had too much emotion! I don’t know! But it was great reading from this villain’s perspective. :D

This book also lets you know more about why Levana does the things that she does. You start to get more insight on what she’s thinking since the entire book is in her perspective. And at some points in the book, I kind of felt bad for her. But now after finishing it, it’s more like pity and a little bit of anger. I don’t know how she does the things she does, but honestly, I don’t even want to think about it.

Overall, great novella! Great enough for me to think that it’s not really that bad that this came out before Winter. I can see the quality in this despite the quantity (see what I did there?). :D

I would recommend this novella to people who are fans of The Lunar Chronicles because you really get to know more about the villain in this story and who Cinder and her team are really dealing with. Although it’s not necessary to read this book I feel like I understand so much more about this series after reading this book. So, if you’re a Lunar Chronicles fan, go read this! It’s a really short read and great!

Thanks for reading this review guys, and until the next one! :D
