Basically we have a topic every week related to books and you choose your top five! This is done every Wednesday! Also, this is my first Top 5 Wednesday so I’m nervous (I know, I know).

So this week’s topic is: Favorite Required Reading!

5. The Hobbit

by J. R. R. Tolkien

I read this a year ago for my study novel unit in English. I didn’t enjoy it, but it was far better than Romeo and Juliet in my opinion. I thought that Bilbo was a funny character to read about, but I didn’t think that he was my favorite, particularly because he was never invested in parts of The Hobbit I was actually looking forward to (*cough cough* Battle of the Five Armies! *cough cough*). So, it’s more of a least favorite.

4. The Vampire Stalker

by Allison Van Diepen

This book was required reading for in-class literature circles a long time ago. I’d read this over the course of a month and it was very enjoyable. I just liked the creativity of the story, and I was hoping to hear more about this on here, but I haven’t heard anything. I’m hoping to give this reread in the future! This book was just a delight and great read! :D

 3.Charlotte’s Web

by E.B. White and Garth Williams

I wanted for this to be number one, but I’ve decided to just let this stay number three because I want my number one and two to appeal to something that I would choose now! This is a childhood favorite! I loved this book, and I don’t think I need to explain why! I’m sure everyone loved the journey of Charlotte and Wilbur, and, also, the amount of love Fern has for her pig and her compassion! :D This book is one I will read over and over again! :D

2. Lamb to the Slaughter

by Roald Dahl

This is probably my favorite short story of all time. This just had a nice, creepy-esque tone to it and I watched several short films after reading this story as well! In my opinion, if there was something that defined anti-hero it would be this short story. You have to salute the intelligence behind this murder. It’s a weird favorite!

 1. Le Bossu de Notre Dame

by Victor Hugo

I loved this book. I did, seriously. I ended up having to read for the French Literature unit! I am very glad I did! This book has such complex characters, and while they are all meant to be unlikeable, I still enjoyed them all! Probably the best read! :D Quite lengthy but we read this actively between a graphic novel, and the novel. :D
